FEBRUARY 13th & 14th
Lions Rout Dragons / Dragons Spook Lions

Friday, February 13th
Penn State - 11, Drexel - 0

Friday, the 13th, a bad omen for the Dragons! Jason and Chucky were not on Penn State’s bench, just the 2nd best ACHA team in the nation.

What can you say about a rout? Not much. For Drexel, no sauce found the back of the net. No Penn State Icer was fooled by a toe dangle in the gray area. No Dragon munched on top cheese. The game was all Penn State. Routs happen. It’s over. The sun came up the next morning.

Saturday, February 14th
Penn State - 7, Drexel - 1
No chocolates, no flowers for Penn State.  Drexel celebrated Valentine’s Day spooking Penn State in Happy Valley.  Coming off the Nightmare on Walnut Street, the Dragons shook off  Friday’s horror story to skate for two periods with Penn State.

Despite a huge shot differential, Penn State managed only one first period score on rookie goalie Marteen Naeff, playing in his first game of the season.

Drexel tied the game in the second period on a power play goal by Andrew Lawrie (Cohen, Allat).  Only a one-minded bouncing puck, which twisted away from Naeff and into the net late in the second period, was the game’s difference as the teams left the ice.

Instead of 1-1, and Penn State looking for a goal, it was Drexel in need of an equalizer in the third.  With a one goal lead, Penn State was able to play aggressively, taking advantage of Drexel’s fatigue and any mistake.  The game ended with four unanswered goals.  The silver lining was fine play by Naeff, and a strong two periods by the Dragons. Penn State sidestepped a Dragon out to break a Lion’s heart.
