FEBRUARY 7th
Scranton No Rx for Dragons
Drexel vs. Scranton University
Saturday
, February 7th

“Is There a Doctor in the House!” echoed through Drexel’s team ambulance…err.. bus as the Dragons traveled North to face off against Scranton. Dressing a team plagued by flu, mono, cough, fever, and injury, Drexel lost 4-3 on a late third period Scranton goal.

Playing without Mansur, Armstrong, and McMahon, and with Cohen, Allat, and Blazic and others battling flu like symptoms, Drexel opened the scoring as Kyle Zoldy bounced a shot from the right circle off the goal post and Scranton goalie at 16:16 of the first period to give Drexel a 1-0 lead. Scranton tied the game on (what else?) a power play goal at the 18:01. Penalties continue to hurt Drexel.

In the second period Drexel regained that lead as Zoldy got his second goal at 11:54. Zoldy’s tenacity continues to pay dividends for the Dragons. But Scranton retied the game less than a minute later on a giveaway by Drexel. The Dragons reclaimed the lead as Zak Blazic converted an Alex Cohen cross ice pass into a power play goal at 16:20. Drexel appeared to score another goal on a two man advantage, but Andrew Lawrie’s score was disallowed on a questionable crease violation call.

The third period saw Scranton score another power play goal at the 2:29 mark to tie the game for the third time. Scranton got the game winner at 15:47 as Scranton got beyond Drexel’s defense for a nifty 2 on 1 play giving goalie Dan Pyne no chance to make the save. The illness bug took over, as Drexel could muster little energy, and no more offense as the clock ran out.

Vitamin C was on the house at the post game meal.
