NOVEMBER 21st & 22nd
Dragons Drop Two to Blue Hens
Dragons Flat in Delaware

(Drexel vs. U of Delaware)
Friday, November 21st

The Blue Hens were there to be plucked. Unfortunately, the Dragons were not hungry as Delaware wore Drexel down in a 5-2 victory in Newark.

Although out skated, out shot, and out hit, the game was tied after one period with Adrian Allatt (Alex Cohen, Bruno Petrillo) scoring from an impossible angle late in the first period.

Delaware got two more goals in the second with play mostly in the Drexel end. The Dragons got one back as Kevin Thren (Allatt, Cohen) scored on a power play. The rest of the game was all Blue Hens. The Dragons seemed out of sync all evening and could not find a scoring rhythm. The game ended 5-3, Delaware.

Iron Man Rescues Delaware
(Drexel vs. U of Delaware)
Saturday, November 22nd

Powerhouse University of Delaware visited Drexel looking to complete a weekend sweep of the Dragons. Delaware quietly snuck out of Class of ’23 rink with a 5-3 victory, knowing that Iron Man saved the day for the Blue Hens.

UD started the scoring at the 4:15 mark of the first, knocking in a rebound in the crease. Drexel answered with an opportunity goal by Kyle Zoldy (Andrew Lawrie, Tom Buklarewicz) about 5 minutes later. With Drexel playing shorthanded, Delaware regained the lead on power play goal at the 13 minute mark. Then Iron Man made his first play of the game. Zoldy, playing on the first line, again beat UD’s goalie. However Iron Man made an incredible save keeping the puck out of the net.

Zak Blazic (Adrian Allat, Andrew Lawrie) tied the game with a power play goal 2 minutes into the second period. Delaware responded with two goals before Lawrie (Alex Cohen, Blazic) got Drexel within one at 9:42 of the second period.

In the third Drexel surrendered one more goal to the Blue Hens, However, the bigger play was by UD’s Iron Man. Lawrie, Cohen, and Allat all hit the post behind the beaten UD goalie giving the Blue Hens only inches of a victory.

The disheartening loss did not lessen a fine Dragon effort against #5 nationally ranked Delaware. The Dragons have played 3 top 25 teams in three weekends, going 1-3 with one loss being a shoot-out versus Stony Brook and one at the hands of Iron Man.
