Upperclassmen Grind Out Home Victory
Saturday, November 1st
In game two in Philadelphia Saturday night, Drexel upperclassmen
lead the way as Drexel came back from a two goal deficit to defeat
Navy again, this time 6-4. Junior Tom Buklarewicz (Thren) got Drexel
on the board with a blast from the right circle over the left
shoulder of the Navy net minder. Navy scored the next two and led
2-1 until Bruno Petrillo (Cohen, Buklarewicz) tied the game in the
seventh minute of period two.
The game seesawed. Navy retook the lead with a late, power play
second period goal. More damage was averted as junior Jake Davis,
playing without a stick, hounded Navy into perimeter passing while
on a 6-4 delayed penalty call just after Navy had scored. Navy
controlled the puck for 1:27 without getting off a shot. A second
Navy power play goal was waved off as Navy was called for a crease
violation.
At the beginning of the third period, Andrew Lawrie (Zoldy,
Armstrong) retied the game while on the power play. Lawrie scored
again, assisted by Zak Blazic, to put Drexel in the lead four
minutes later. Navy retied the game at 12:51. The game remained
tied until 5:05. Tom Buklarewicz, with a Navy defender draped all
over him, chipped a bulls eye centering pass from Alex Cohen into
the net to record the game winner for Drexel.
Kyle Zoldy’s empty net goal in the final minute sealed the victory
and signaled bon voyage as Navy sailed back home towing its second
defeat in two nights.
